Vinegar eels are tiny live food for newly hatched fish fry and other small fish. This 3 oz starter culture gives you a source culture to expand at home, with a pipette and care guide to help you get started.
You will receive:
Starting the culture
In a clean jar or bottle, mix roughly equal parts apple cider vinegar and dechlorinated water. Add the starter culture and, optionally, a small slice of apple. Cover loosely and keep at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. Allow about 2–4 weeks for the new culture to build up before regular harvesting.
Harvesting
Place clean filter floss in the bottle neck so it touches the culture. Add a little dechlorinated water above the floss and wait 8–24 hours. Use the included pipette to collect eels from the fresh water layer, helping limit the amount of vinegar added to your aquarium.
