Scarlet Badis – Colorful Micropredator for Nano Aquariums
The Scarlet Badis (Dario dario) is a stunning, micro-sized predator perfect for peaceful, planted nano aquariums. Males display vibrant red and blue striping with flared fins that add a flash of color to any aquascape. Reaching just under 1 inch, they’re ideal for tanks as small as 5 gallons.
Despite their bold look, Scarlet Badis are shy and non-aggressive, making them suitable tankmates for shrimp, snails, and small peaceful fish. They thrive in densely planted tanks with plenty of hiding spots and low flow.
As micropredators, they prefer live or frozen foods like microworms, baby brine shrimp, and grindal worms. These fish do best in stable, mature aquariums with soft, slightly acidic water.
