Aponogeton boivinianus is a bold Madagascar bulb plant known for its long, deeply textured green leaves. Mature foliage develops a distinctive hammered appearance, creating an impressive centerpiece in medium to large freshwater aquariums.

Young leaves may emerge light green or slightly bronze before gradually developing their characteristic deep green color. This substantial plant appreciates moderate lighting, nutrient-rich substrate and gentle water movement.

Planting Instructions

Place the bulb in the substrate with the growing point facing upward and positioned at the substrate surface. Avoid burying the sprout. A nutrient-rich substrate or occasional root tab will encourage stronger growth.

Aponogeton boivinianus naturally enters a dormant period and may temporarily lose all its leaves. This does not necessarily mean the bulb has died. Leave a firm bulb undisturbed and allow time for new growth to return.

Live plants vary naturally in size, color and leaf count. Minor bending, leaf loss or melting can occur after shipping while the plant adjusts to new aquarium conditions.
